Reason #4 to lose weight - shoes .... and socks, too. Trying to put on shoes or socks as an obese person is not easy!! It was REALLY hard when I weighed 282 pounds. I couldn't bend straight over to put them on - it was painful, and I would feel like I was going to pass out! I would have to kind of bend at the side, try to reach down with one hand, know what?? I can't even really explain it - I would have to show you!! Anyway, when I lost the 30 pounds it did get a little easier. Now, I can bend straight over - a little - but I have to make sure my foot meets me halfway by putting it up on the ottoman, or like on the the second or third stair! So, it will be nice to be able to put on socks and shoes like a normal size person.

And don't let me see any of you checking out how I put my shoes on next time I'm at your house for a visit!!:)

  1. Hi Shannon,
I wanted to come by and say thank you for stopping by my blog. Part of this weight loss journey is finding people you can connect with and find encouragment from and give encouragment to. Also, at least for me, losing wieght is about tackeling self esteem and mental barriers. Somehow, even with the unconditional love my daughters and husband give me, I have lost my value to myself. I stopped seeing my self as an independant, smart, funny, sexy, caring woman and have been nothing more than a mediocre wife and mother. I don't know when I made the mental shift. Now is the time to shift back the perspective. Time to take care of me. While it may seem vain or selfish, I know in the end (and along the way) I will become a far better wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend.
Shannon, please come back and visit my blog as often as you like. I hope that you can find some encouragment, and most importantly know that you are not alone in this journey.

  2. Hi, Christi. I don't think it's vain or selfish, at all, to want to start taking care of yourself - in fact, I think, it's important to do so! Thanks for stopping by here. I look forward to following you on your blog!
