**5K**

I started thinking about trying to run a 5K after reading a post by this awesome and inspiring blogger:
http://chubzilla.blogspot.com/2011/02/day-55.html

And then I found out about a 5K training program at another inspiring gal's blog:
http://www.alltheweigh.com/

So, I made the decision to go for it!!  You can read a little about the program here - the official site will be ready soon! And he still has spots open:

At this point, I can't run...at all.  Well, I haven't actually tried, but I doubt I would get far, but after going through the program I'm really hoping I'll be able to do a 5K!  The program hasn't started yet, but soon I'll be on my way!

  1. I get inspired to run from other blogs too - DYING to run, but I just can't get over the 'people SEEING me run' aspect of things :(

    I know I will though

The girl that REALLY spurred me on is a friend of mine with and AWESOME blog - http://www.fallonshealthylife.com/

People who run always seem to love running.
I don't want to run to lose weight - but to have a life long exercise, that doesn't involve money or a gym etc

    CONGRATS Shannon :)

  3. Good Luck! I picked up running out of nowhere and while I'm not at a 5k status, I can run a solid 20 minutes without stopping. Loving it and it is such a great workout!

  5. Thanks, everyone! I'm really looking forward to doing the program.
@Edel - I know what you mean. I don't want to run in front of people either - it's going to be hard, but I'm going to make myself do it!
@Darla - I like setting goals. It really helps me to stay on track. Thanks.
@Shannon - 20 min. of running is awesome! I can't wait to get there.
@Mary - I know you do alot of running, and for long distances which is so great! It's inspiring, and I really hope to be able to do that one day.

  6. You just have to run at night like I do so no one sees you! : ) If you want, I'll do it with you. I don't prefer to run straight, but to sprint and walk, but it all works out the same amount of time in the end.
P.S. - I've been walking during daylight hours a bit lately because it's just TOOO cold still at night and can I just tell you that I feel so exposed AND like I'm about to get hit by a car??? Maybe I really am a vampire!

  7. @Jen - For now, I'm going to just try running on the treadmill, and then later I'll start trying it outside.
